JUCLive! 2007-2008 Schedule
Christine Lavin
Friday, September 28, 2007 7pm
Knitting Circle with Christine 6pm
Christine Lavin’s songs are the sound tracks of American life nailing a goodly number of the absurdities, reversals and neuroses that jam up our daily lives. With her liquid-silver voice and comic genius Lavin threads her wonderfully skewed songs into an smart and witty theatre-concert.
“Lavin is as captivating an artist in solo performance as there is today.” —Billboard

Bas Bleu Theater – “Duet for One”
Saturday, May 10, 2008 7pm
Stephanie is young, wealthy and attractive, and one of the greatest violinists in the world. Then one day a strange feeling in her fingers prevents her from
playing. At first she denies there is anything seriously wrong, but eventually she has to face up to the fact that she is suffering from multiple sclerosis.
Tom Kempinski’s remarkably uplifting and compassionate play is clearly inspired by the tragedy of the cellist Jacqueline du Pré.
The spirit and power of music pervades the tragedy and deepens our understanding, not only of what it means to face the challenge of a life changing condition, but of how precious our powers of expression are to us.
Tickets: $15 / $12 seniors / $10 students
